I've seen a lot of people with their own buttons on their pages (that you can copy & paste). Where do you get them? I'd love to get 1 if it's not too expensive. Do you have to get a background with the button?

Over at my blog indiechick designs I can make you a button for $8.50 :) To see examples please go to either my personal blog where I have my toddler awesome button, or indiechick designs where i have that button!
you can either create one or pay a blog designer to create one for you. I see the first commenter gave you a link and I have one on my blog (bottom of the sidebars) if you want to create one yourself. :-) It's pretty easy if you have good instructions!
Mine was made by the woman who did my header, but previous, I made my own at photobucket.com. really easy - just take a photo, add the title of your blog, then follow this: http://cincinnatiwomenbloggers.com/2009/05/16/tutorial-creating-your-own-blog-button-w-code-box/

All you need is an image hosted in Photobucket they provide the code for you.
