I met my hubby 10 years ago today. We met in person for the 1st time (we met on Match.com & e mailed & talked for a few months) & had our 1st date. We met at a Mexican restaurant. I remember standing in the doorway waiting for him to come in & being so nervous. He was a few minutes late & came in with some really pretty flowers (he was late because he had stopped for the flowers). I had mentioned that I loved Sunflowers, so he had gotten me mini sunflowers & some other flowers too.
These are the flowers that he got me.
I remember thinking during the date, that I really liked him & that I was going to take my profile off from Match when I got home. We moved in together a year after we met, got engaged 2 years after we met, got married 3 years after & had the Drama Queen 4 years after we met. We've been through a lot over the years.
This is pic is from Oct of 2003. Our 1st vacation together to Providence.
So Tara has been 6 for just over a month. She's been pretty fresh since she turned 6. Hands on the hips & snapping her fingers saying "Uh huh". The past 3 years have been difficult. I'm hoping to get things under control this year. Tomorrow is the 1st day of school. Back to schedules & chores & hopefully going to bed on time. She's been fiesty. Her new fave saying is "Dang it". We got her a pink Barbie radio for her birthday & she plays the "Lemonade Mouth" soundtrack daily, sometimes 3x a day. I was hoping she'd have the cd player in her room, but it's in our dining room still. She's obsessed with butts & boobies. Ugh. Also our next store neighbor, her bff.
The photo above was the day after my surgery on the way to the post-op appointment.
So I had my eye surgery on Wednesday. All I will say about the actual surgery is that it was torture. Like when you watch a spi movie or Mafia movie & they torture the enemy to get them truth out of them. I've been resting a lot. Catching up on General Hospital (even though I still can't see great). Things are still hazy/blurry. My eyes are scratchy. I have to use eye drops every 4 hrs & dry eye vitamins 4 a day. I've been napping a lot. I've also been going to the eye doc every other day. I'll be going back on Tuesday. They put contacts in that aren't prescription with medicine on them. They are kind of like bandaids. They are suppose to be taking them out on Tues. I'm hoping that it won't hurt. I kind of don't want my eyes touched just yet. No one really paid much attention to me in our house. No, "how are you doing?" "do you need help with that?" Our neighbors were on vacation all last week, so Tara's been over her bff's house. They brought her to the beach a few times, she went in their pool, they brought her to the park. They've been a huge help. Anthony was working on the house. The wall above our deck is rotted, so he took down the wood & replaced it & primed it. He'll paint it next weekend. The only 1 who paid attention to me was JoJo. She was next to me a lot on the couch. She was my little nurse, almost like she knew something was wrong/different. It's still going to be a long road. The doc said it could take 2 months before I can see clearly. Just trying to take it day by day.
I did some posts ahead of time. I finally had my eye surgery on Wednesday & I wasn't sure how long I wouldn't be able to see/read. So I wanted to make sure that I got some things posted ahead of time. I might also have Tara do a post, if I can teach Anthony how to do posts on here. When I can see & can get back on here I will have an update on how the sugery went.
We took this pic last week. Tara wouldn't smile, so I tickled her. Works great. Not so sure about my headband. I love the pattern, but not sure about the bow/knot. I might try it a different way the next time that I wear it. I also got a Sugar skull headband from the same company.
We went to a flea market on Saturday. I hadn't been to 1 for about 5 years. The 1st thing I saw when I got there was The Mountain fairy t-shirts. I collect them, but they didn't have any in size small. A lot of them I already had. I'm hoping to check out another local flea market soon.
I got these 2 Essie polishes for $3 each. 2 polishes that I've been wanting, Bikini so Teeny & Meet Me at Sunset.
Last week Anthony got Tara a motorcycle helmet. I was thinking she probably would never use it. She hates the sound of the motorcycle & puts her hands over her ears everytime he turns it on. I never thought she would really get on it. But today she went for her 1st ride. They went around the corner & then drove by our house (I got a short video, not sure how to add videos on here) & then went to a ball field near us & the gas station. Anthony said everyone was smiling at them. She went in the gas station with him & had her helmet on. I'm so proud of her. She loved it. My little biker chick.
This week I have on my new Sephora by OPI polish~Call Your Mother. It's not my regular shade. I love purple, but it's a bit dull. I really want to try some different colors/shades, so I like it for that.
If you are planning your child's birthday party, Birthday in a Box has birthday party kits that you can order. They have different themes & in the kit you receive napkins, plates, cups, a tablecover, spoons, forks etc... Tara's 6th birthday was in July & she decided that she wanted a luau them. So we ended up picking a Birthday in a Box, pinata kit & got a cute hula girl.
I loved the flowers in her hair & her cute flip flops (didn't really get them in this photo).
The kit came along with a 3 lb bag of candy & a blindfold for the kids to wear, that was kind of pretty. Not all of the kids wanted to wear it.
We thought that the pinata kind of looked like Tara. They looked so cute together.
She really fell in love with her & got really sad when one of her friends finally broke her open. I felt so bad. All that was left was her head. She still has it hanging on our mantel. Originally she didn't want anyone to hit her & just wanted to pull her string, so she could keep her, intact.
I was hoping to finish 1 book this Summer & I did the other night. It took me 3 weeks. I was pretty proud of myself, it usually takes me 3 months. That's my new thing, reading about 20 minutes before I go to bed. It's kind of nice having some quiet time after 8-10 hrs with the Drama Queen.
Yesterday I got another book by Laura Childs from the library. It has the same character, Theodosia in it.
A few weeks ago my pen pal that lives in MO told me she had mailed me 2 envelopes. She had sent me some stuff & hoped that I could use it. So when I opened the packages I was so happy. 1 had a bunch of mineral eye shadows. A bunch of different colors by Mica beauty. I've never used that brand before. The loose powders are so messy, but they are pretty colors. 2 Kat Von D loose powders too.
Then 3 Kat Von D lipglosses. We had a catastrophe, after I took a photo of these lip glosses Tara took them & lost them. 2 days later (today), she found them. Yay. She got mad at me a week ago & hid my Opi Nail envy ($13) in the kleenex box in the bathroom. I was so mad. If she didn't tell me where she put it, I would have to go out & buy another 1 (that took a few days of me asking her if she took it, where was it etc.. too). So she was punished & I'm trying to teach her to not take/hide my things.
I love make-up & I have some really awesome pen pals.
