Random thoughts

1 of my pet peeves is when the candle gets too low & the lighter can't reach the wick. I really hate that. We've bought some of those longer lighters & for some reason they never work. Today I got 1 of those new Glade soy candles. I had a $4 coupon so it was only 50 cents. yay.

Am I the only person in the world that doesn't text? I have no interest in it either.

Halloween already?

Last week I said that I didn't have the Halloween spirit yet. I know it's way early, but I saw this in X-mas tree shop & had to get her. I already have her out, but might put her away till October. I'm not doing much Halloween decorating this year.

Watch what you tell your kids

Recently I wrote a post about Dragonflies & how I grew up being afraid of them & how I thought they were called Sewing needles. Today my Dad is over helping A cut up some wood. We were out on the deck & my Dad says "Look @ the sewing needles" (dragonflies). So I say "What? is that how I got that? Did you teach me that they were called Sewing needles"? So he said "Yeah, they sew up your lips". I guess he told me that when I was little. So watch what you tell you kids because they really do take you seriously & believe what you say.

Wordless Wednesday~Awesome sky

new watch

I got this watch @ Cracker barrel the other day. I thought it was such a cool idea. You pick the face that you want (they have tons of choices) & then pick the bracelet/band. They also have tons of colors & styles for the bands. I haven't worn a watch in a few years, but am sick of having to look @ my cell to find out what time it is. I want to go back & get different colors & styles to match different outfits.

1 of my ideas

Most of the time when I tell my hubby that I have an idea, he says "Uh, oh". But this time it was a really good idea. Since we cut down a lot of the trees in the yard it's really too bright. So I remembered that we had bought an umbrella for the beach last year (that we never used). So he brought it up & it fit perfectly in the center of the table. So hubby, the next time I have an idea don't be scared.

Yum of the day

We went to Cracker barrel tonight for dinner & they had this lovely smelling lotion in the bathroom, so I ended up buying the hand lotion. It really smells yummy.

Heat wave

We're in the middle of a heat wave here in NH. I decided to take T to a local splash park. She hated it & was really scared. I ended up holding her & walking through the sprinklers. She wouldn't let me put her down. I had fun anyway.

I love swaps

I'm participating in this swap. It's already closed & I'm really excited about it. I've only done 1 swap so far & loved it. I got some really nice things. So I'll be picking up some stuff for my swap partner this week & next week.

Clutter

My office is so cluttered. I clean it up once a week & the magazines, store flyers, recipes etc.. seem to appear out of nowhere. Lately I feel overwelmed about trying to keep up with it all. We were going to have a yard sale in Sept (or at least talked about it), but now hubs is saying that we should wait till next year. I already gathered some stuff for the yard sale & now stuff is accumulating down in the garage. Just really want to get the house organized & keep everything in its place.

Almost Wordless Wednesday~Isn't he cute?

This post isn't completely wordless. We have a ton of dragonflies in our yard this Aug. Yesterday I was coming in from Shopping & this little guy was on our front tree. I was taking a few pics of him & he let me pat him & then landed on my hand. He was so cute. I never knew that dragonflies were friendly. When I was a kid I use to call them "sewing needles". I have no idea where I got that. I use to think that they were mean & would sew you.

#3 on SITS

I got up @ 3am this morning to go to the bathroom & decided to sign into SITS. I ended up being #3. I was so excited. I've never been that high up on the list. Thanks to the SITS girls that have dropped by my blog today. I'll be sending comments back to you soon.

Old apartment

We drove by my old apt in Peabody, MA yesterday. I had to take a pic of it. I'm going to send it to my old-roomie Renee. It pretty much looks the same, the only thing that looks a little different is the trees in the front. I lived there from 1999-2002. I really miss the area. We lived a few blocks from Peabody square. I also worked in that town for 15 years.

family reunion

Today we went to our family reunion (my Dad's Mom's side). It was so nice to see everyone. Believe it or not I only took like 4 pics. It seemed like my sis, brothers & niece left so quickly. That I never got any pics of any of them. They got there earlier than us & had a 3 hr ride home. I did get 1 of my Dad with his Aunt Ivy. My Grandmother's sister. My Grandmother died when I was 6 years old. She was the nicest Nana ever (I know everyone probably says that). I don't have a whole lot of memories of her since I was so young when she died. So it was nice to see her sister. She's 86 years old.

No more trees

Today we had a bunch of trees in our yard cut down. I'm not a tree-cutter-downer, I'm actually kind of against it, but some of the trees were real old & prob going to fall on our house eventually. 1 of them was a home to a squirrel. The tree had a crack in it & it was hollow. I told A to make sure the guys knew that it was the squirrel's home. So tonight after the guys were all done I was looking out the window & there he was Mr. Squirrel looking very confused & circling around his former home. I felt so bad. I almost wanted to cry.

Hubs has a week off from work in Aug, so he's going to clear out the rest of the trees & branches. It looks weird. I think we have to get use to it, but I am excited for T to have a bigger area in the backyard to play in. We'll also plant some grass back there maybe next year.

We have a new store in our mall. I checked it out today. It smells so good there. I didn't buy anything, but I might go back & get something soon. The Chox away soap was my fave.

Hippie car

I was coming out of Walmart today & saw this cute hippie car. I had to take pics. After I put the food & T in the car, I went around to the back of the car to take a pic. I noticed a girl heading to the car as I went to take a pic of it. Oops. I was like "is that your car"? She said "yeah" in an annoyed voice. So I said "It's so cute" & ran back to my car. She wasn't all that happy that I was taking pics. But hey if you have a cute car (well the stickers made it cute. she had them all the way around the car) you should expect attention & since I have a blog it makes for a good post. I almost felt like the paparazzi. Taking a pic & having to run (okay, I didn't really run). What I won't do for my readers.

Quick Margherita pizza

(I made this last week & it is really good)

From prebaking the dough for crispness to drizzling the finished pie with balsamic vinegar, this 30-minute recipe is full of flavorful tricks that have made it one of our most popular pizzas.

4 servings (serving size: 2 pieces)
Ingredients

1 (10-ounce) can refrigerated pizza crust dough
Cooking spray
1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil, divided
1 garlic clove, halved
5 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced (about 3/4 pound)
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded fresh mozzarella cheese
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup thinly sliced fresh basil
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper


Preheat oven to 400°.

Unroll crust dough onto a baking sheet coated with cooking spray; pat into a 13 x 11-inch rectangle. Bake at 400° for 8 minutes. Remove crust from oven, and brush with 1/2 teaspoon oil. Rub crust with cut sides of garlic.

Arrange tomato slices on crust, leaving a 1/2-inch border; sprinkle evenly with cheese. Bake at 400° for 12 minutes or until cheese melts and crust is golden.

Combine 1/2 teaspoon oil and vinegar, stirring with a whisk.

Sprinkle pizza evenly with sliced basil, salt, and pepper. Drizzle the vinegar mixture evenly over the pizza. Cut pizza into 8 pieces.

Today we went to a farm/zoo. When we were getting out of the car in the parking lot, our friends Alyson, Chris & Ethan were just getting out of their car. We hadn't planned it & didn't know that they were going. So that was a fun surprise.

We ran out of gas on the way home. It made me totally sad. We called AAA & waited for about an hr on the highway @ the offramp. It was 85 & very humid. We were all sweaty, stinky, thirsty, hungry etc..
