30 Days of Lists

Tomorrow starts the 30 Days of Lists challenge. I haven't even gotten a journal or notebook to start doing it. Things have been pretty busy here getting ready for school & me having doctor appointments. I'm hoping to figure out tomorrow what I am going to use for it, since it starts tomorrow. I'm usually a planner & pretty organized. Should be fun. I love lists.

This & that

So we did really good through the storm the other day. We didn't lose power & only have a few branches down & tons of leaves. We have friends still without power. No fun. That's the bad part about living in NH. Tomorrow is T's open house for school. She will meet her new teacher & see her classroom. I think I'm more excited than she is. I think there will be a lot of changes around here within the next month. I'm looking forward to them all. I'm hoping to finally get a blog makeover & get the house decluttered. Maybe a few reviews & giveaways too.

Hurricane check list

Photo via Pinterest

We are suppose to be getting Hurricane Irene tomorrow. Hubs took in all of the flowers & the lawn furniture (most of it) & put it in the garage. He got stung on the cheek by a hornet today, when he was moving the windchimes (there was 1 living in there. We knew that). This is my hurricane check list.

* Magazines & store flyers (for when I can get out & shop)

* Nailpolish (If I get bored)

* Charged netbook

* portable dvd player (I think maybe we'll watch Shinedown's concert dvd that I got like 3 months ago & haven't watched yet)

* White zyn
* Camera

*Water & all the normal things that you need in a hurricane too.

Back to school countdown

Photo via Pinterest

I am counting down the days till Tara goes to pre-school. I'm so excited about so many things. She will be going to a new school for a year. We chose this school because we really liked everything about it, education wise. It is a religious school. I'm not religious at all, so this is going to be really hard for me. I keep telling myself that it is only 1 year & we have to do what is best for her, even though it makes me very uncomfy. She will have 5 of her friends in her class this year. I'm excited for her to learn a ton of new things. There is an open house next week & we will meet her teacher & see her classroom. I've heard a ton of great things about her new teacher. She is a Martha Stewart type person, from what I hear. So that will be lots of fun. I'm also hoping to get the whole house organized. Room by room. So I'm really looking forward to that. I think I will have a ton of things to bring to Goodwill.

Pinterest

I've been on Pinterest for a while now, but never have time to go on there & add pins & check it out. I added a few last night. I do see how it can be addicting. I love the photos. I could look @ the photos all day. Check out My Pinterest page There's not much on there yet.

Mom's day off

Today the hubs & T went camping. I had the day off. I didn't get to do everything that I wanted, but I did go to McKinnon's (a butcher shop, but they have all types of foods) & Walmart (got a brown tank top & some white nailpolish). Watched Housewives of NJ & found a new reality show Tia & Tamera (from Sister Sister). Went to the mall. Watched the movie "Alice in Wonderland" (I was disapointed that they never played Shinedown's song "Her name is Alice" from the soundtrack). I was hoping to get some scrapbooking done, but can't seem to get my mojo going. Hopefully I can do a bit tomorrow morning.

Love this hair color

I have naturally reddish hair. It's reddish, brownish, goldish, copperish, blondish & some white mixed in. I use to go to a salon to have my hair done back before I was a sahm & worked. I moved & went to a new salon & wanted to have my hair done redder & she said it would take a few visits & it's hard to get that color etc... So I went to the store & bought a box hair color. The 1st color I tried I loved. So I stuck with it for 4 or 5 years. The last time I colored my hair I decided to try something different. I had been thinking of going lighter, but ended up with a darker brown with hardly no red in it, some copper color in the sun. Now my color is fading & I'm still thinking of going a bit lighter, but I'm not sure if I have to go to a salon to have it done. I might have to have it lightened 1st. I really love this color below, but I'm not sure how I will look with this color. This actress Erin is on General hospital & plays Sioban.

So we'll see what I decide to do. I might talk to my hair stylest, who pretty much just trims 1 inch off of my hair every 2 months. I don't really do too much to my hair.

Kids in the kitchen

Our town has different events going on for the kids. This week was a cooking class. The chef lady always has great ideas for healthy recipes. The kids made cheesy campfires. It makes cooking & eating more fun. My daughter is so picky.

What would you do?

On Sunday night we took T to have professional photos done, at a photo place in the mall. We were sitting there waiting to go in & I notice a woman go by with twin girls (I love twins, so I noticed). About 5-10 minutes later she walked by the other way & started freaking out. She was hysterical screaming "Oh, no" & "Oh my God" etc... She threw her purse & bag from a store, onto the ground & was drastically looking through the bags. We figured out that she lost something (obvious). I just sat there watching & most other people did too. 1 guy tried to go over to her & see what was wrong, he might have known what happened, but she kind of swatted him away. It kind of made me feel that I didn't want to get involved (I didn't want to be yelled at), but I had the urge to go over there, since everyone was just sitting there watching. Finally a man with a baby on his arm ran over to her & handed her something. She hugged him & said "Thank you so much". We found out after that she had lost her wedding ring. Everyone was like "So that's why she was hysterical". But the whole thing got me thinking about "what if someone was really in trouble or hurt"? Would I just sit there & watch or help or rescue the person? I always thought I would be the type of person to help & not just sit there & watch. I think it depends on the situation.

August goals

I really can't believe that Summer is almost over. We still have about 20-25 things to do from our "Summer to-do list". There is no way that we will be able to do everything, but we will get to do the main things that we want to do.

* Have a fire pit

* Make a list of things to get organized next month

* Go to Rockport

* Finish my list of "41 things to do before I turn 42". (So hard to think of that many things to do)

* Have a date night with the hubs

* Go on a boat ride

* Go to another farmers market

* Flea market
* Bring some things to Goodwill

* Cook a crockpot meal

* Finish 4 scrapbook pages
