Life as an Empath

Empath: A person who is capable of feeling the emotions of others despite the fact that they themselves are not going through the same situation.

I've known that I'm an empath for a while now. I hear other people's problems & take it on as my own. I want to save the world & fix everyone's problems. I know I can't do that, but it's hard to turn off those feelings of wanting to help everyone. For example, my brother had a stroke, can barely talk or move his hands, he is stuck in a wheelchair & is often angry. What can I do to help cheer him up? I imagine what it would be like to not be able to talk & do all the things I love. I was thinking maybe it would be nice for him to take a day trip to an animal shelter to see some dogs & other animals or maybe somehow he could get a service dog. My friend had colon cancer & I felt for her as she went to chemo every week or other week. All of this wears me down. I already have chronic fatigue & fibro & am always exhausted. I hate watching the news because it leaves me feeling sad & anxious. I hate hearing animal abuse stories or child abuse stories etc.... I would like to work on things to learn how to not feel so much, but it's not an easy thing. I'm planning on getting some books on the subject & crystals to help.

Colonoscopy

Sorry that I haven't been posting every day. Things have been a little stressful & busy around here, but things are getting better. I had a colonoscopy on Friday. It's been 3 years since I had 1. My Dad had colon cancer in 1998, but survived. So this was my 3rd colonoscopy. During my last 1 they found a polyp, so that's why I had to go 3 years later. Prep on Thursday was horrible. A liquid diet all day & then I had to drink 2 different things & pretty much stayed up all night. At 4am on Friday I had to drink 64 more ounces of a drink. At 1 point I felt like I was going to throw up, but I made it through it. The colonoscopy went well & I didn't have any polyps this time, so I don't have to go back for 5 years. So happy about that.

Happy Mail Lately

This ornament I got from a new pen pal in Italy. She mailed it the beginning of December & I just got it on Saturday. We thought her letter was lost. Glad I got it.

Cute cat card from a pen pal. She has 7 cats.

Late Christmas card. I think it's really cool from Arizona.

Huge stash of happy mail from a swap that I did.

Hey, It's Okay

--To need more hours in the day to get things done. That's why I'm writing this at 10:55 pm when I should be in bed.
--To be happy to get rid of old clothes & old stuff.
--To enjoy getting surprise gifts.
--To look forward to a free weekend when my family can just hang out & do some things on the to-do list. Some little mini make overs in the house.

Kind of Thinking That I Need a Make-up Room

I think it would be nice to have a make-up room. Maybe someday if we had an extra tiny room. I found these photos on Pinterest. I do my make-up in the bathroom. I feel like it has the best light. I've never had a make-up mirror, but I would love 1 with lights all around it.

New book that I'm reading

I'm starting a new book today. It's author is actually from my town.So I guess this counts as my 1st book for the year. My last 1 I started in November & finished in Jan, but since I started it last year it doesn't count. The book is called "Flying Backwards". I hope it like it. I'll let you know.

These are some older pics from a few weeks ago that I never posted. I was pretty glad to get the Christmas tree down. I kind of get sick of it after a while.

Homemade slime

Tara is really into DIY's. She loves watching them on You tube & making them herself. I suggested that she make diy presents for her friends for Christmas, so she wanted to make them slime. My hubby went online & found a good recipe.

They went out & bought tins, food coloring & glue. He brought home some labels from work & we took a pic of her with Kiz. We had an assembly line putting the tins in bags with stickers & wrote her friend's names on the bags. They all loved them. We had silly putty as kids & now they have flubber, slime, goo & Thinking putty.

These are the directions that were on the bottom of the tin.

What you will need:

Solution A
1 cup water
1 cup glue (not from the dollar store, too watery)
2 Tbs. liquid tempera paint or 7-10 drops of food coloring
Solution B
1 1/3 cup warm water
4tsp. borox laundry booster

How to Concoct it:
1. Mix ingredients in solution A together in a medium bowl.
2. In a second medium bowl, mix the ingredients in solution B together until the borox is completely dissolved.
3. Slowly pour solution A into solution B (Do not mix).
4. Roll solution A around in solution B 4-5x .
5. Lift solution A out of solution B and knead for 2-3 minutes.
6. Store gunk in an airtight container or plastic zip bag.

What is on Your Reading List for 2017?

I really would love to read one book a month, but I'm a pretty slow reader & sometimes don't get to read every night. I also read magazines at night sometimes. I want to read more Chick lit books, positive books about living a positive life & also cozy mysteries. I also would like to read all of Laura Childs newer books that I haven't read. She's a cozy mystery writer that has a scrapbooking series (the main girl in the book owns a scrapbook store) & she has a tea shop series (where the main character has a tea shop). What type of books do you like to read? Do you have a set list of what you want to read this year or an amount of books that you want to read? Are any of you doing a reading challenge?

A New Year

We took a few pics on New Year's Eve Eve. Notice our cat, Kizmet with a lei on her neck too.

New Year's Eve we went to Target & spent 2 hours there. Took a break in Starbucks.

Went to a Bar & Grill for a drink.

Had a few sips of champagne @ a friend's house. Yuck.

Me, at Midnight. So tired looking.
