Friday Favorites. 2.26.21

Hello Friday. It's been another long week. Busy with doctor appointments. I am having a colonoscopy today, not fun.

1. Oreos. Gluten free oreos. They are really good. I've been wanting to make an oreo bark, so I will use these when I make it.

2. Tie dye shirt. I got this shirt at Walmart. It ties in the front, but I'm not going to wear it that way. It's a bit wrinkled. It's going in the wash soon.

3. Earrings. I also got these rose gold hoops at Walmart. They came in a 3 pack. A small pair of silver (I gave those to my daughter), a gold pair that was a little bigger & the rose gold hoop that was the biggest. I was going to post a pic of the silver earrings, but Tara is missing 1 right now.

Happy Friday.

Spring vibes

This photo is from last year.

I'm so happy that February is almost over. I feel like it's probably the hardest month for people who have Winter weather. At least it's a short month. I'm just so excited for March. I consider March 1st (meteorological Spring) Spring. Even though it probably won't warm up until April or May here. I just feel like my mood changes with the longer days & sunnier days. I'm so looking forward to walking in my yard with no snow or seeing the grass. I went out in my front yard the other day to put bird food out at the feeder & I had to walk through like 3 inches of snow. I had been putting it off because I really didn't want to get my sneakers, socks & pants wet. I just miss being out & getting fresh air. I really don't spend any time outside at all once Fall hits. I go from my house to car to the store & home again. I can't wait to garden & see flowers & leaves again. Winter is so long & depressing in New England.

What I'm reading now-Town in a Maple Madness

"Town in a Cinnamon Toast" returns to Cape Willington, Maine, where blueberry farmer Candy Holliday springs ahead into sleuthing...
The imminent arrival of spring has the locals gearing up for their sweetest celebration ever the first annual Maple Madness Weekend. Along with maple sugar house tours, a community-wide marshmallow roast, and a weekend-long pancake breakfast, restaurants will be serving up special maple syrup dishes. But the weekend festivities are put in jeopardy when things start to get sticky...

One of Candy s friends is accused of stealing sap from a rival s sugar maple trees, and landscaper Mick Rilke is found dead, floating down the river wrapped up in a fisherman s net. As Candy taps into Mick s life, his unsavory side comes to light, as well as a possible connection to both crimes. Now it s up to Candy to follow the flow of suspects to a cold-blooded killer...

Tasty Tuesday-Buttermilk-Boursin mashed potoatoes

 Buttermilk-Boursin mashed potatoes

Yields 8-10 servings
Prep time 45 minutes
Total time 1 hour, 25 minutes

Ingredients:

4 lb. medium Yukon gold potatoes
2 package herb-garlic cheese (such as Boursin)
6 tbsp. softened butter
c. fresh chives
1 1/2 tsp. Kosher salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground pepper
1 3/4 c. whole buttermilk
fresh chives

Directions:
  1. Bring potatoes and cold salted water to cover to a boil in a large Dutch oven. Boil 20 to 25 minutes or until tender; drain. Let stand until cool enough to handle and peel.
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Press peeled potatoes through a potato ricer or food mill into a large bowl. Lightly fold cheese, 4 tablespoons butter, and next 3 ingredients into potatoes. Stir in 1 3/4 to 2 1/4 cups buttermilk, stirring just until smooth and fluffy (do not over- mix). Spoon into a lightly greased 3-quart baking dish. Dot top of potatoes with remaining 2 tablespoons butter and cover with aluminum foil.
  3. Bake, covered, at 400 degrees F for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 more minutes or until thoroughly heated. Sprinkle with additional chives before serving.

I've definitely started having the Winter blues. It's gotten really cold in New England & we're finally in snowy season. We're getting snow every other day. 40 days until Spring.

Friday Favorites. 2.5.21

 1. Plant pot. I love anything that says Plant Mom or Plant Lady. So I had to get this when I saw it at Christmas tree shop. I moved my Monstera plant into it, because I thought it needed to go in a bigger pot. I have it on my mantle.

2. Necklace. I got this moonstone sun necklace for Christmas from my friend. I love it. I think she got it on Etsy.

3. Hat. I ordered this hat from Express. I saw it online & really liked it. I picked it up. I thought it looked more like a light gray than a cream color. It was $28 & I got it for $11. $28 is so much for a hat. I've only been in Express once before when I did a blogger event at a Outlet mall. I'm not too big on pom pom hats because they seem to flop around a lot.

Have a nice weekend. I won't be watching football. lol.

Nail Files. Week #371

This week I have on a periwinkle color. The polish is really old, from a kit that I had. It had 5 nail polishes & it came with a sponge. They were different shades of blue. Remember when ombre nails were popular? So that shows how old it is. I had to throw it away after I used it. It was quite lumpy & paint thinner didn't help. The brand was called Fing'rs.
