Tomato Pastina Pie

From Mr. Food's cookbook

We say this serves 6 but, honestly, you could eat the whole thing by yourself. It's so good, we can't believe we got if from an in-law!

Serves: 6 Cooking Time: 45 min

What You'll Need:

2 teaspoons Dijon-style mustard
1 frozen 9-inch pie shell, thawed according to package directions
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1/4 cup tiny pasta shape, like pastina or acini di pepe
1 (28 ounce) can whole tomatoes, broken up, undrained
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

What To Do:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2.Spread mustard on bottom of thawed pie shell.
3.Distribute 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over mustard, then pasta, tomatoes, and seasonings. Top with remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese.
4.Bake about 40 minutes or until golden. Allow to stand 10 minutes before serving.

Note: You can prepare this a few hours before mealtime, cover and refrigerate it, then bake it just before serving.

Halloween 2012

We finally celebrated Halloween last night (Nov 3rd). We left our house at 5pm & headed to our neighbors house, they were doing a hayride.They ended up driving us house to house & letting the kids get out & go to a few houses. We thought they were just doing the hayride & going out after. I went out with Tara & we didn't get to our house (on the hayride) till 7:00. So I switched off with hubs, he went out & I stayed in (Didn't get any kids either. Once it gets dark the kids don't come up the driveway. Our driveway is crazy & dark & there are also no streetlights, so you need to take a flashlight if you go out here). I decided that next year I am dressing up as a witch. Even if hubs doesn't want to. I think it will be fun & I love doing crazy make-up.

 

 

 1 of the houses had a fire pit going. Lots of the adults dressed up.

 

Our neighbors sent out an e mail asking if we wanted to participate in passing out adult beverages. So a lot of the houses were passing out shots (1 was called Zombie brain). Next year we will take part in that. Anthony went next store & had a few shots (he was feeling really good last night. I love our neighborhood.

Nail Files. week # 44

Today I have on Revlon's Not so Blueberry scented nailpolish. It only smells like blueberry when you paint them. Pretty color though. I might add some gold glitter to my ring finger nails.

Glasses update

I finally got the glasses that I picked out today. I went with a totally different pair, than the 2 pairs I showed in my last Glasses post. These are DKNY. I hate the nose things, so these don't have them.

Another Halloween that wasn't

We survived Sandy. We lost power on Monday night for 2 hrs. We ate by lantern light. We haven't had the internet or landline phone till 7:30 tonight. No school so far this week, but there will be school tomorrow. They also postponed Trick or Treat again for the 2nd year in a row (last year we had a freak snowstorm & lost power), so we will be Trick or treating this Saturday night. Our neighbors pass out shots for the adults. We're trying to decide what we are going to pass out. Probably not shots. Also 1 of our neighbors will be doing hayrides around the neighborhood. Our girl's weekend away in VT scrapbooking has also been postponed. I'm so bummed out. I packed up some of my scrapping stuff yesterday since we were stuck in the house all day. We might go Nov 17th weekend. We got out today. Tara had dance class. Only 3 girls showed up for dance (they did get to wear their costumes) & they got to just jump around & be silly.

 I also had my hair done today. It was really nice to get out. I hope everyone is safe & has their power back on.

Mommy & Me Monday

Today we went to Target & Michaels in the storm (it was just raining & a bit windy). I wanted to get some smashbook stuff & we needed bread & water & a few other things. Hoping we don't lose power.

Halloween party

We went to a Halloween party last night. No costumes though. I thought it would be kind of fun to dress up. Hubby wouldn't anyway. Maybe some year. My friend has a beautiful house & she did an awesome job decorating it.

This was 1 of the tables decorated. Mostly with appetizers & other foods. She had another table in the kitchen with desserts.

Now we are getting ready for the hurricane. No school tomorrow. Not sure if Halloween will be postponed again this year (last year we had a snowstorm & they had to postpone Halloween till November because we lost power). I'm hoping to maybe get out to the store. I've been wanting to get to Target to get some scrapbooking stuff & we need some food. We don't want to go food shopping if we might lose power.

Nail Files. Week #43

I'm not much of an orange or yellow person, so this is the best that I can do with those colors. The orange/peach is The Icing Falling for You, yellow is Sally Hansen Hard as nails in Hard lemonade, the white is Pure Ice in Platinum & the black is The Icing in Twilight. I might add a glow in the dark clear coat over them.

Just like her Mom

She is very moody
She loves music
People call her quiet/shy (they called me both when I was a kid, but I actually talked to adults)
She has lots of friends
She is a Cancer (Moonchild)
She hates when people can't hear her (it's 1 of my pet peeves)
She worries a lot (Lately about earthquakes, since we had 1 a few weeks ago. We missed it because we were driving in the car. Also fires, in school they've been having lots of practice fire drills. She's afraid to go to sleep now).
She will be a Brownie just like me.
