Mommy & Me Monday

On Saturday we went to Anthony's parent's house. We were sitting in their sunroom. Anthony went to help his Mom with her computer & I got bored. So I took some photos (of myself. That's what I do when I'm bored. I know it probably sounds weird) & a few of Tara & I. Here is 1 of them.

New week. More busy days ahead

Just when I'm starting to enjoy Summer, I feel like it's almost over. We'll be gone for  a week to Virginia, so that cuts down on us doing some of our Summer to-do list things. We still have to go to Boston, Salem, MA, go in the canoe, make root beer floats, mini golf, picnic in the park & a few more things. So many birthdays. We have 1 more this Summer.  This week there is a Kindergarten camp. It's only 2 & 1/2 hrs (like kindergarten will be), but I'm going to make a list of things I want to get done while she is in school. It's been so long since I had that much free time.

Tara has her own camera

Tara's fave birthday present is her new camera from my parents. Since anyone who has ever met me knows that I am a camera/photo freak. I have a small camera that I carry with me at all times. I've also always been quite the poser. So it's not surprising that I have a mini poser/photo taker. This camera is really cute. You can add funny cartoons to the photo. There's a good 1 of T with a purple hair-do & 1 of me with big red lips. We need to get a chord for her camera, so we can plug it in & upload the photos.

This week I had on Sally Hansen's Lavender pearlescent (it's really pink though), the thumb has Sally Hansen's Sparked over the lavender & the index finger has Bon Bons on it (not sure of the color).

Just some random stuff

This year is flying by. I'm getting excited to go to VA for my friend's wedding. There was a few things this Summer that I was looking forward to & now there's only 2 more things left. Not sure what I'll do once they are all over. It's nice having things to look forward to. I will have a kindergartener (not sure if that is a real word). She's starting Brownies in October, so that will be fun. I was a brownie. Still wanting to organize the house more. Kindergarten is only 2 & 1/2 hrs, so I won't be able to get too much done, but more than now & her being home.

Cash for gold

I've heard about people getting $ for their gold. So I brought some stuff today to the mall & got $150. I was hoping to get at least $20, so I wanted to start jumping up & down when she said $150. This is great for anyone looking for a little extra $. I don't wear gold anymore, so it was great for me. I got a few more things together today & called my Mom & she has some stuff for me to bring.

Her theme for next year: Barbie/luau. We'll see if it changes by then. She's obsessed with the Oriental trading catalogs.

Kids in the Kitchen. Day 2

For some reason the photos that I took yesterday didn't come out. My camera was acting weird. Tara made a yummy salsa recipe. Of course she wouldn't eat it. She doesn't like tomatoes or onions, but does like cilantro. I want to make this soon.

Fresh Tomato Salsa
(From Pampered Chef via chef Jennifer)

Ingredients
1 small onion
1 jalapeno pepper, stemmed
1/2 cup loosly packed fresh cilantro
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 garlic cloves, peeled
1/2 salt
2 cups grape tomatoes, divided
Tortilla chips (optional)

Directions
1. Cut onion into quarters. Cut Jalapeno crosswise into thirds. Combine onion jalapeno, cilantro, lemon juice, garlic & salt in a Manual food processor (or blender) pump handle to chop to desired consistency. Serve with tortilla chips, if desired.

Yield: about 2 & 1/2 cups salsa

The Places we'll go (Dover, Deleware)

We are heading to Virginia in August. We'll be staying in Deleware on the way there. Staying over the 1st night. I use to go to VA when I was a kid. The 1st time I went, I was only 6. My parent's & I would stay in Dover on the way there. I remember there being a Friendlys in the parking lot of our hotel & going to Kmart & buying some cassette tapes. There was also a restaurant called Country Pantry that we would eat at every year. They had wooden plaques that they sold & my Mom bought a few. I'm sure it's changed since then. So we'll be checking out some new things this year.

My Dad turned 75 last Saturday. My sister & I planned a surprise party for him. He was really surprised. I can't believe he's 75. He's always been there for me & now Anthony & Tara too. He would do anything for anyone & has tons of friends & family who love him.
